Welcome to The Nest!
The Nest is The Abbey School's very own specialist provision and we provide a tailored curriculum for children for whom it has been agreed that specialist in mainstream provision is appropriate.
The Nest is a nurturing, calm and welcoming environment where the students can meet their full potential. We provide an in-depth sensory program for each student, in order to help them to regulate.
Every child in The Nest is treated as an individual; the curriculum is adapted to their specific needs and level of development, working on what is appropriate for their style of learning and where they are at academically, so this can look very different for each child. The children in The Nest also access mainstream classroom learning at an appropriate level.
We aim to give the children as many different experiences as possible and ensure that they have access to all areas of the curriculum, not just English and Maths. We tailor lessons around Science, Art, Music, Religious Education, Physical Education and Personal, Social and Emotional Health as well as always trying to meet sensory needs. Our days are structured and fun and each child is given lots of time, patience and understanding to 'be the best they can be'.
