In the instance that national or local restrictions require children to remain at home, the DfE asks schools to publish information about their remote education provision.
Should this situation arise the short term plan might look different from a more long term provision. In the short term children would be asked to continue reading, both their school reading book and other materials they might have at home, practising their numbers/ number bonds/ times tables and learning spellings.
Should the situation continue we would look to deliver the curriculum remotely making use of Teams and lesson plans shared by teachers with parents. Some adjustments would be necessary to make this curriculum viable for children to engage with at home. Expected learning time would take account of the importance of activities for wellbeing such as being outside, engaging in games and creative activities and reading for pleasure.
Details of resources would be shared by teachers and communication would be maintained with parents so that children could have feedback on the learning they completed. Efforts would be made to find alternative resources and means of communication if technology was a barrier.
For children with additional needs, communication with parents would be important in planning appropriate activities meaningful for the child but also manageable for parents.
